What an Odd Christmas

So typically, in Vietnam at least, presents are opened after mass on the night of Christmas Eve.  This year, Christmas Eve was filled with shared tears and stifled voices.  This year, my best gift was that which I gave.  But I am not some saintly child.  No, I didn't give away a present, I gave away a burden.

I went to sleep reminded last night that the happiest people on earth aren't those who have experienced a single moment of greatest bliss, but rather those who find happiness when it is nowhere to be seen; those who can still smile in any and every situation.
